Close to Vietnam ,Laos and Cambodia triangle ,a beautiful forest await for you . It’s named ' Virachey forest .'

In this forest we conduct an interesting and adventurous from 2 day up to 5 days  trek.
A boat trip on the Sesan river take you to Kos Peak village Kachock  indigenous hill tribe community forest . Trek through pristine forest ,follow the tracks of local hunters ,crossing some rivers and engaging indigenous community .

Introduction
In this  adventurous trek  , a lot of highlights will pass along your  way .
Starting at the bank of Ton Le San river ,visit small settlements ,engage with indigenous communities ,learn about local farming ,fishing and hunting techniques .
Stay overnight in the jungle ,submerge in a very beautiful forest where you can meet ‘The Giant trees of the Virachey forest ”You will follow tracks that varies  from small tracks leading  from one small settlement to another ,hunting tracks ,wildlife tracks and off beaten tracks .
Different sceneries will be presented to you like beautiful panoramic views ,mixed forest ,secondary  and primary forest .Numerous small creeks ,streams and river in the region .This trek has a high expedition experience .We go into the forest ,have a great adventure and educative time . No fixed itinerary and off beaten track!
The trek through the primary forest is really off beaten track.At some area the wildlife tracks are the only paths available .Your foot print mix with the foot print of Giant Gaur ‘a wild buffalo’.The Kachock people are very friendly and will often invite you into their homes .According to the season you can watch their daily activities .We spend two nights during this trek .One near the waterfall and one night with a local family /or  by a stram   . Each has its own charm!

Itinerary:

Day 1: (4 hours trek)

  • Morning: We leave Banlung at 8:30am to  Kachon Village, which is around 36km away, where we take a boat on the Sesan river, pass Koh Peak village to our starting point further upriver. During our 1h boat trip you can enjoy the amazing landscape and watch birds, living along the river and even catch glimpses of the local wildlife.
  • You will be welcomed by our local ranger and soon we are off, crossing several farms and paddy fields, before we come into a bamboo forest. 
  • Lunch: We will have lunch on a small river and let the hottest hour of the day pass by.
  • Afternoon: Extreme trek start from there.  Get change 
  • magnificent waterfall where we camp 
  •  as we are heading deeper, if you don't want to get cut from the jungle and eaten alive from insects.
  • Carry on the trek and hike passing  bamboo forest, 
  • rocky hills, some streams, thick jungle and after approximately 4 hours we arrive a wonderful waterfall. This three step waterfall measures at least over forty meters and a beautiful clear river at its bottom is waiting to rinse the sweat of your body and invigorate your muscles.
  • Help each other to set up a shelter, cooking dinner and stay for overnight , camping at the waterfall.  
  • Night:  Experience 'nightlife' in the jungle as many animals are nocturnal the forest comes alive after sunset.  If you would like to go for a short night trek to experience the jungle as well as search for nocturnal wildlife, you can let our guide and ranger know as they are always ready for that.

Day 2: (6 hours trek)

  • Morning: Get up at 7 :00 for breakfast . Start with steep but a rewarding climb as on the summit of the mountain is a magnificent view. Hike and trek through  lush old jungle, a with chance to see wildlife and birds, our guide and ranger will explain the  natural resources. 
  • Once in a while we take a break to rest a little bit and to enjoy the jungle surroundings atmosphere. 
  • Take main break after 3 hours trek and lunch at the stone field as there is a stream there.
  • Continue hike and trek  out of the jungle to a village and stay for the optional second night with a tribal family. Having dinner with this indigenous family and a little drink of the local home made jar wine .

Day 3: ( easy  trek  visit village ,local livelihood and cemetery)


  • After breakfast,  say ''Goodbye'' to the family we stayed with.  Our guide and ranger will show you the remnant of Khmer Rouge. The massive grave and the old dam where the K.R.R leaders wanted to bury all the villagers to be executed but fortunately, they were lucky and saved by the war in 1979, were rescued from immanent death.
  • We walk back to the main village  and take a tour around it and its surroundings and have lunch there then we trek to visit the sacred cemetery of Chun Chiet (or Kachok hill tribes' cemetery).This tribal cemetery is worth to visit as there are wooden men and woman statues, put to stand in front of the tombs to guard and likeness of elephant tusks and beautifully decorated tombs.  Our guide gives an interesting explanation of the animist belief of the indigenous people.
  • Once you are ready, we trek back to the river and take the boat back to Kachon and heading back to Banlung and then we bring you to the crater lake where you can have another swim  and relax and after that we take you back to town.

This itinerary is written based on our research expeditions.   It should be read in order to get a good impression and NOT as a detailed hour by hour itinerary.

Things to bring for trekking: 

  • Clothes:  Long trousers, T-shirts, Bathing suit,  a set of clothes for the night.
  • Footware:  Sturdy boots, socks, flip flops 
  • Toiletries: Insect repellent, Suncream, Towel
  • Sun Hat or Cap 
  • Head-torch 
  • First Aid Kit 
  • Purified Water pills if you have, optional
  • Backpack 

Note : We can use a porter if you have a lot of stuff with you.  How we sleep?  For Camping, we make a shelter and we use hammock attached mosquito-net and blanket for sleeping.
