forest await for you . It’s named ' Virachey forest .'
In this forest we conduct an interesting and adventurous
from 2 to 5 days trek.A
boat trip on the Sesan river take you to Kos Peak village Kachock indigenous hill tribe community forest . Trek
through pristine forest ,follow the tracks of local hunters ,crossing some
rivers and engaging indigenous community .
Introduction
In this adventurous
trek , a lot of highlights will pass
along your way .Starting at the bank of Ton Le San river ,visit small
settlements ,engage with indigenous communities ,learn about local farming ,fishing
and hunting techniques .Stay overnight in the jungle ,submerge in a very beautiful
forest where you can meet ''the giant trees of the Virachey forest ”You will follow
tracks that varies from small tracks
leading from one small settlement to
another ,hunting tracks ,wildlife tracks and off beaten tracks .Different sceneries will be presented to you like beautiful
panoramic views ,mixed forest ,secondary
and primary forest .Numerous small creeks ,streams and river in the
region .This trek has a high expedition experience .We go into the forest ,have
a great adventure and educative time . No fixed itinerary and off beaten track!The trek through the primary forest is really off beaten
track.At some area the wildlife tracks are the only paths available .Your foot
print mix with the foot print of Giant Gaur ‘a wild buffalo’.The Kachock people
are very friendly and will often invite you into their homes .According to the
season you can watch their daily activities .We spend three nights during this
trek .One near the waterfall and one night near a stram and one with a kachock tribal family . Each has its charm!
Itinerary:
Day 1: (4 hours trek, Accommodation: Camping by waterfall in the jungle)
- Morning: Leave the office in Banlung at 8:30 a.m. to Kachon village. It takes 90 minutes to drive there . Take a boat for 50 minutes on Ton Le San river to a remote village of kachok ethnic minority.
- Get off the boat meet the indigenous ranger and start the trek from there. At the beginning walking pass traditional farm houses.
- Lunch: Stop for lunch at the local farm house. Get change as we are heading deeper, if you don't want to get cut from jungle and eaten alive from insects.
- Afternoon: Carry on the trek and hike passing through bamboo forest, rocky hills, some streams, thick jungle and after 4 hours we arrive at a wonderful waterfall. This three tier waterfall measures at least over forty meters and has beautiful clear river at its bottom is waiting to rinse the sweat of your body and invigorate your muscles.
- Late afternoon: Help each other to set up a shelter, cooking dinner and stay for overnight.
- Night: Experience the ‘nightlife’ in the jungle as it comes alive after sunset as many animals are nocturnal. If you would like to go for a short night trek to experience the jungle as well as search for nocturnal wildlife you can let our guide and ranger know as they are always ready for that.

Day 2: (5 hours trek, Accommodation: Camping by the Creek.)
- Morning: Get up at 7:00am for breakfast and after that continue trekking/hiking further to the north the more you get to the north the denser the jungle.
- Today you will enjoy the diverse view of many different kinds of giant trees, some of the trees are so large in size that it requires 8-10 people holding hand-to-hand to get around the girth of the tree.
- You also have a high chance to spot some wildlife but however, there is no guarantee for wildlife.
- Once in a while we take a break to rest and enjoy with jungle surroundings and soak in its majestic atmosphere.
- Afternoon/Evening: We stop for lunch after 3 hours hike and we camp by scenic creek for the optional second night deeper into the jungle.

Day 3: (5-6 hours trek, Accommodation: Home stay with tribal family.)
- Morning: Get up at 7 :00 for breakfast. Start with steep but a rewarding climb as on the summit of the mountain is a great view.
- Hike and trek through lush old jungle, with chance to see wildlife and birds, our guide and ranger will explain the natural resources.
- Lunch: Take a break after 3 hours trek and lunch at the stone field as there is a refreshing stream there.
- Afternoon: Continue to hike and trek out of the jungle to a tribal village and stay for the optional third night with a tribal family.
- Evening: Having dinner with this indigenous family and a little drink of the local home made jar wine .

Day 4: (Visiting local life ,cemetery and the area )
- Morning: After breakfast say'' Goodbye '' to the family we stayed with . Our guide and ranger show you the remnant of Khmer Rouge . The massive grave and the old dam where the K.R.R leaders were to bury all the villagers to be executed but fortunately they were lucky and were rescued by the war in 1979.
- We walk back to the village from the first day and take a tour around the village and its surroundings and have lunch.
- Afternoon: We trek to visit the traditional cemetery of Kachok hill tribe.This tribal cemetery is worth to visit as there are wooden men and woman statues put to stand in front of the tomb to guard and likeness of elephant tusk and beautifully decorated tombs.
- Once you are ready, walk to the river, take a boat back to Kachon and head back to Banlung.

This itinerary is written based on our research expeditions. It should be read in order to get a good impression and NOT as a detailed hour by hour itinerary.

Things to bring for trekking:
- Clothes: Long trousers, T-shirts, Bathing suit, a set of clothes for the night.
- Footware: Sturdy boots, socks, flip flops
- Toiletries: Insect repellent, Suncream, Towel
- Sun Hat or Cap
- Head-torch
- First Aid Kit
- Purified Water pills if you have, optional
- Backpack
Note : We can use a porter if you have a lot of stuff with you. How we sleep? For Camping, we make a shelter and we use hammock attached mosquito-net and blanket for sleeping.
