Adventurous Deep Jungle Trek and Bamboo Rafting Virachey National Park 3-10 days

Option 2:  6 Days/ 5 Nights

O'La Lai River

Day 1: (Trek tbc km, Accommodation: Camping)

  • Morning:  Leave the office in Banlung at 8:30 a.m.  We bring you to Vuern Sai district (Vuern Sai is located 40 km, Northern Banlung).  It takes 1:30 hour to  drive there.
  • When we arrive at Vuern Sai, we take a boat on Ton Le San river for 7 minutes and then you will see another river smaller.  It is called O'La Lai river, our boat will follow this river for 50 minutes more.

**Please note that during the dry season
From 1st January until the mid of June, the route Vuern Sai to Rock village will be on a motorbike due to a too shallow river

  • Arriving at a very remote village of Kavet ethnic minority .Kavet people are very friendly and 30 percent of the villagers are still living in bamboo houses.
  • We meet our ranger and take a tour around the village with guide and tribal ranger 
  • Lunch: We have lunch in this village 
  • Afternoon:  Now the real trek begins.  
  • In the beginning we trek to spider area our guide and ranger are very expert at their task therefore they'll show you how to use grass leaf to get spider come out of the hole.
  • Continue to trek deeper into the bamboo forest and some rivers.  When you get to the primary forest, you will be told to put on long clothes as there are critters like leeches and other insects would come to suck your blood. 
  • Keep on hiking.  We reach a beautiful river waiting to rinse the sweat of your body and a relaxing soak.
  • We set up the shelter by this river, hang hammock, making fire, cook dinner and sleep for overnight.

Day 2 (Trek tbc km, Accommodation: Camping)

  • Morning:  Early in the morning you will hear noises of wildlife  like gibbon, monkey, birds, and many other exotic wildlife.
  • Get up at 7:30 a.m. for breakfast.
  • Start hiking for 3 hours from morning till noon in the old jungle deeper. 
  • Lunch:  We arrive at a  stream, stop for lunch. 
  • Afternoon: continue for another 3 hours deeper .

For this second day trek you will enjoy the sights of old dense and lush jungle with manydifferent kinds of huge giant trees (trees which have been living for thousands of years in this jungle) and you also get a high chance to see wildlife such as gibbons, monkeys, exotic species of birds, wild boar, deer and sometimes maybe, bears.  However there is no guarantee for wildlife as they are very scared of humans.  Our guide and ranger, who are professional jungle trackers will show and explain all about the natural resources and teach you how to survive in the deepest jungle.  For example, certain types of vine we chop for water drips, you can drink its water and survive.  Many fruits are eatable and aromatic as well as some poisonous plants.

  • We sleep by a small stream for the optional second night.  At the late afternoon after we set up the shelter we collect the vegetable from to cook in bamboo hole in this case you 'll get an unforgettable experience of learning how to survive in the jungle .

Day 3: (Trek tbc km, Accommodation: Camping)

  • Morning:  After breakfast, start to hike and trek 5 hours deeper into the remotest parts of the jungle, to an area which is rarely reached by humans
  • Evening:  After helping each other to make up a campsite and dinner.  We start a new program of 2 hours night trek to look for wildlife.  Have you ever done any night hikes with head-torch on your head before?  Well, to do a night walk, you'll get much more chance to spot native nocturnal species like badgers, reptiles, wild pigs, loris also night birds and others. The jungle comes alive at night.  Moreover, the special point of it you'll get such a feeling like you are being hunted yourself.  The  jungle sound at night time is very scary and more impressive than day time.  When you flash around yourself, hundreds of eyes of insects appear glowing.

Day 4: (Trek tbc km, Accommodation: Camping)

  • We trek, trek and hike for 4-5 hours until we reach at a waterfall and we spend the night next to this waterfall.
  • Highlights as above: Learn to survive in the deepest jungle, walk among the giants of the forest, track wildlife, enjoy the refreshing streams and rivers and feel the sense of great accomplishment of surviving the wild.

Day 5: (Trek tbc km, Accommodation: Homestay)

Learn to build your own Raft.
  • Morning: After breakfast we hike and trek to a river, that will take 3 hours to get there .
  • Lunch: We reach that river around 12 at noon.  Take a break for lunch. 
  • Afternoon:  We help each other to chop some bamboo, carry them to the river, slice young bamboo to make strings and use it to tie bamboo together to build up a bamboo-raft.  Making  bamboo paddle too and start rafting down.  
  • After one hour and half rafting we reach a large rapid and there are a few families of jungle indigenous people living in small bamboo houses there and so we gonna stay overnight with these families.                                                                     
    Enjoy the local Jar Wine through a straw
  • Enjoy with the locals, their lifestyle and do some fishing to complete our meal. 
  • After sunset have dinner with these people.  
  • At night we make a little party by drinking traditional home-made jar wine of the indigenous people. 
  • You can talk with them about their lifestyle, livelihood, culture and tradition.

Day 6

  • Say "Goodbye ''to the family after breakfast and start with rafting down for awhile  in the morning.
  •  We get off the raft, walk to the village.  
  • Have lunch with ranger and say ''Goodbye'' to him.
  • Then you take a moto back to Ton Le San river and take a ferry across it . 
  • We pick you  back to Banlung at around 4.00 p.m. you will be back in town.

  • Clothes:  Long trousers, T-shirts, Bathing suit,  a set of clothes for the night.
  • Footware:  Sturdy boots, socks, flip flops 
  • Toiletries: Insect repellent, Suncream, Towel
  • Sun Hat or Cap 
  • Head-torch 
  • First Aid Kit 
  • Purified Water pills if you have, optional
  • Backpack 

Note : We can use a porter if you have a lot of stuff with you.  How we sleep?  For Camping, we make a shelter and we use hammock attached mosquito-net and blanket for sleeping.
